Cambridge Theatre, London — Heartbreak House (H. M. Tennent Ltd.), 1943. Single‑sheet printed cast list for the wartime revival of Shaw’s Heartbreak House, starring Robert Donat, Edith Evans, Isabel Jeans and Deborah Kerr. The sheet measures approx. 4 × 6 inches and is mounted to a contemporary album leaf, which carries a pencilled date “1943”, indicating immediate post‑performance preservation.
Signed in blue ink on the cast list by Isabel Jeans and Deborah Kerr. Kerr’s autograph is an early‑career example from one of her principal West End appearances, predating her rapid transition into film. Jeans provides a strong theatrical counterpoint, long established in London by this period.
Clean, well‑preserved item with strong provenance. No tears; light handling consistent with album mounting. A desirable signed example from a notable wartime production.
PROVENANCE:
One of c.2,500+ items once from the collection or dealer stock of Winifred A Myers (Autographs) Ltd, St Martins Lane, London, evidenced by the quantity of Myers pre-printed envelopes and paper folders and the general ‘presentation’ of the items, many having Myers identification notes in pencil.
